EMOM Timer

EMOM means every minute on the minute: at the top of each minute you start a set, then rest until the next one. This timer marks each interval with a chime and counts your rounds - Set the interval and how many rounds, then get to work.

About the EMOM Timer

In short

An EMOM starts work at each interval boundary and turns the unused part of that interval into recovery.

EMOM means every minute on the minute. At each chime you begin a planned set, then rest for the time left before the next chime. The workout becomes harder when the set takes longer because recovery automatically shrinks.

The default is ten one-minute rounds. Use a longer interval for a heavier or more complex set, and choose a rep target you can finish consistently without racing unsafe technique.

Build a repeatable EMOM

  1. Choose one movement or a short sequence.
  2. Time one controlled trial set.
  3. Leave a meaningful recovery margin inside each interval.
  4. Stop or reduce reps when later rounds no longer fit cleanly.

Tip: Keep the first rounds conservative enough to preserve recovery later.

Tip: Place equipment before starting so setup does not consume the interval.

Tip: Use the round counter to log when pace begins to fall.

EMOM, E2MOM and alternating minutes

A standard EMOM repeats every 60 seconds. An E2MOM begins every two minutes and suits longer strength sets. Alternating-minute plans can switch movements on odd and even rounds, but each chime still marks the start rather than a separate work and rest phase.

EMOM Timer - FAQ

What does EMOM mean?
Every minute on the minute: you start a set of reps at the top of each minute and rest for whatever time is left before the next minute begins.
Can I change the interval?
Yes. Most EMOMs use 60 seconds, but you can set any interval, so a 120-second interval gives you an E2MOM.
How many rounds should I do?
Ten to twenty minutes is common. Set the round count to the number of minutes you want to train.
What happens if I do not finish before the next chime?
Reduce the rep target, lengthen the interval or stop. An EMOM should not force rushed repetitions with deteriorating form.
What is an E2MOM?
It means every two minutes on the minute: start the set at 0:00, 2:00, 4:00 and so on.
