Countdown to Summer 2027
Count down to summer in live days, hours, minutes and seconds. This one ticks down to the June solstice, the longest day and the unofficial start of the season.
Pick any future date and time - Birthdays, holidays, launches, exams - And watch it count down live.
Summer is on Sunday, June 20, 2027. The countdown above is calculated from the target timestamp, so delayed display updates correct when the browser resumes.
Whether it is the school holidays, a summer trip or just the long evenings you are waiting for, a countdown makes the wait feel shorter. Rename it for the exact day your summer starts, like the last day of term or the flight out.

Location note: This page uses the June solstice and therefore represents Northern Hemisphere summer.
This page uses the June solstice as the astronomical start of Northern Hemisphere summer. The exact solstice instant and local date can vary, while meteorological summer and school holidays use other definitions. Change the countdown when a holiday, last school day or trip is your real start of summer.
Which summer are you counting to?
There are two defensible answers and this page has to pick one. Astronomical summer starts at the solstice, around June 20 or 21 in the Northern Hemisphere, which is the longest day. Meteorological summer starts on June 1, because climate records are easier to keep in whole months. Weather services use the second; almanacs and calendars usually print the first.
And if you are south of the equator, both are six months out - Summer there begins in December. If the countdown is for a school holiday, a season opening or a trip, the honest move is to ignore both definitions and set the actual date that matters to you.
Summer Planning Checklist
- Decide whether you mean the solstice or school holidays
- Change the date for your location
- Add a trip countdown if travel is the real milestone
